 Radio Presenter Shot Dead During Live Broadcast As Public Watched On Facebook Stream A radio journalist has been shot dead as he presented a live show in the Philippines. The gunman gained entry to the home studio of Juan Jumalon, known as DJ Johnny Walker, by pretending to be a listener. He then shot the 57-year-old twice during his morning broadcast, as people watched the programme live on Facebook. According to Sky News, the attacker snatched Mr Jumalon’s gold necklace before fleeing on a motorbike with somebody who had been waiting outside.   A video of the attack shows Mr Jumalon pausing and looking up at something away from the camera before two shots ring out. He slumps back in his chair as background music plays on. He was pronounced dead on the way to hospital. The attacker was not seen on the Facebook livestream but police said they are checking if security cameras installed in the house and at neighbours’ homes recorded anything.  Students dragged state governor to court for relocating LAUTECH campus Some students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have dragged the state governor, Seyi Makinde, alongside three others to court for relocating the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences to the newly-established Faculty of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin Campus in the Iseyin Local Government Area of the state. The second-year students of the institution were directed to move to Iseyin for the second semester of the ongoing academic session. The suit no HOG/34/2023 filed at an Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso has Akintayo Ajibola, Onwi Edet, Ezekiel Ogunmola and Aderemi Olude as plaintiffs. They filed the suit for themselves, and on behalf of other students and parents of the 200 level students of the faculty.  Governor Fubara Apologises, Commends President Tinubu For Intervening In Feud With Wike The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has offered an apology to the people of the state over the recent political crisis in the state. He described the crisis as “regrettable anxieties of the last few days,” saying it was important to make sacrifices for peace to reign. Fubara stated this in a release titled, “Peace is priceless”, which he posted on Saturday on his X platform and obtained by newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital. While recalling the bombing of the state House of Assembly complex and the division among lawmakers, the governor explained that his visit to the House was to assess the level of damage caused by the fire and undertake remedial measures to protect lives and property within the assembly complex. He thanked President Bola Tinubu for his intervention which he said opened a series of communication channels aimed at arriving at a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

 VRA should be blame for the spillages – Energy expert An energy expert and former NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kwadwo Opoku Nsafoah, has blamed the engineers of the Volta River Authority for the flooding of communities by the Akosombo Dam spillage. According to Mr. Nsafoah, the negligence of these engineers and to some extent their lack of technical knowledge on their field of work led to the current disaster caused by the spillage. He said it is required of the engineers to conduct proper and extensive consultation before taking any action of that kind, a move he believes they failed to do.
