A 25-year-old woman, Temitope Adeyanju has been arrested by officers in Ogun State Police Command for inflicting injuries on female ward’s body and private part after accusing her of stealing biscuit.

The incident occurred at Obada Oko on Tuesday, June 11, at about 11am

Confirming the incident, the police image maker, SP Omolola Odutola said that the command got a report from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Obada Oko Division regarding a case of child abuse and assault causing harm.

The ward, a 12-year-old girl from Isewo Obada Oko, was said to have been severely beaten, after which a piece of firewood was inserted in her private part by her guardian.

The PPRO said that when the report was received, the DPO sent the Officer in Charge of Juvenile Welfare Center to apprehend the suspect.

When arrested and interrogated, the suspect told the police that the victim stole some items from her, including biscuits worth ₦200, beverage worth ₦150, and fruit juice worth ₦300.

She admitted admitted committing the crime.

SP Odutola said that investigation is ongoing.
