VRA should be blame for the spillages – Energy expert
An energy expert and former NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kwadwo Opoku Nsafoah, has blamed the engineers of the Volta River Authority for the flooding of communities by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
According to Mr. Nsafoah, the negligence of these engineers and to some extent their lack of technical knowledge on their field of work led to the current disaster caused by the spillage.
He said it is required of the engineers to conduct proper and extensive consultation before taking any action of that kind, a move he believes they failed to do.
Mr. Nsafoah, explained that, a flooding of this magnitude is the first he has seen saying, “ever since I was born, I have never heard of such damage caused by the spillages because the engineers then were on top of their work, due always do due diligence before they open the Akosombo Dam”
Spillage of water from the Akosombo dam is expected to continue until the excess inflows in the lake recede, according to the Volta River Authority (VRA).
President Nana Addo Danwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia have visited the flood areas and assured them of government support.
Speaking to Nana Amakye on Classic FM’s Morning Show monitored by elvisanokyenews.net, Mr Nsafoah said the government should hold the workers and engineers at VRA responsible because they do not do the right thing and it has now led to such a massive destructions.
“The government must hold VRA responsible for what has happened because clearly, someone neglected his or her job and the aftermath is what we are seeing”. He said.
